Being a frequent traveller with a baby also means that i have to accustomed to packing light… This is not my thing, I’m very well known among my friends that I overpack most of the time especially with my handcarry luggage! I hate the panic if i lost my luggage and yet i don’t have enough diapers or snacks for Lil’ S on the flight…. Since i can’t be a light packer, i have to ensure that that i pack the right thing and it doesn’t cause any mess. This means that as I’m hoping from place to place with just my backpack as luggage, I have to make sure it’s reliable enough to not break as I’m rushing about. I got my latest backpack by looking at the latest reviews for the newest backpacks at Backpacks Asia!
With Lil’ S is growing older now, she’s more demanding on flight as compare to before where she naps throughout the journey. Though our travel experience with Lil’s have been pleasant but every travel is different as she’s growing up and most of the time I’m not sure what to expect. When she was younger, we prepares candy bags with a note that says “Hi there! I’m Lil’ S and this is one of my first few flights. It might not be as comfortable as I expected and if I’m loud, please pardon me… Here are some candies to lighten your day! Thank you for you kind understanding, I promise I’ll be better in my next flight…. “
Good thing that we never got a chance to use any of the bags but you’ll never know. Therefore, i still put in hefty effort in every trip to ensure that we are prepared with inflight activities and snack to keep her occupy. In the past we always make sure that we have enough formula supply for at least 3 feeds and have some snacks for her to munch. Nothing calm her down than fruits! She’s obssesed with fruits but my biggest struggle is to bring fresh fruits and yogurt in our handcarry, the risk of spilling gives me chill. Imagine cleaning up mess in the airport while waiting to board or few minutes before you touch down.
Sometime earlier this year we learned about freeze dried fruits in one of the Food Expo we attended in Korea. We started to research more to understand the process and we found this video that explain the process precisely
Our first impression of freeze dried fruit is WOW but are they able to retain the nutrition value as the fruits go throught the freeze dried process? Next, Lil S and I get to taste it, WOW… It’s crunchy and taste soo good, yet there’s no or minimal sugar added through the process… This is perfect for our travel, i don’t have to worry about packing fresh fruits and struggle to keep it fresh for a long flight! Plus Lil’ S loves them!!!!! We were hooked instantly and started looking for similar product as we head back to Malaysia. It’s unfortunate that there’s not a lot of options available in Malaysia, and it’s quite expensive RM 7-8 for small pack (1 serving 25g). We end up stocking these up when we travel or we order online directly from US.
When we received the invitation to the Nutrio – Frutzee’s soft launch, it’s like AHHHHA! This is exactly what we are looking for and the best part is it’s locally made!
It’s a small yet private event where we get to meet the founder of Nutrio, Derek Heng whom is also a father of 3 picky eaters. Loves the stories on his journey in creating Frutzee and the company’s visions. They layout the details on their patented technology ensuring that the natural flavour and freshness are retain and this in line to what we are looking for in terms of healthy snacks.
I personally love the designs of the packaging. It is available in 4 real fruit flavours – Crispy Apple, Crispy Banana, Crunch Berry and Crunchy Grape. The flavor that really stands out is Cruncy Grapes! It’s not a common freeze dried fruit flavour and the natural sweetness of the grapes are unimaginable until you get your hands on them. Each box comes with 4 X 32 grams bags, each bag is equivalent to one serving of fruits vacuum packed with nitrogen to ensure the freshness and crunchiness.
And it comes with a very competitive price tag too. It’s retailing at RM114.50 for 6 boxes (24 bags of individual servings) and that’s equivalent to RM 4.80 per pack! It’s very reasonably priced as we have been paying RM 7-8 a bag of 25grams for the imported brands. GIve this a shot and your fruits experience will never be the same…
